About Abby

About Abby

Life can be unpredictable, exciting, messy, beautiful, overwhelming, dull, and everything else in between. Abby’s grandmother would always say that “no one was born with an instruction manual for how to be a human, so we need each other,” and Abby couldn’t agree more.

Professionally, Abby is a licensed professional clinical counselor who works with adults at any stage or place in their parenthood journey by providing individual, couple, and family counseling. Personally, Abby is a mother to one baby earthside and two babies on the other side. She knows the sheer bliss of a positive pregnancy test and the earth-shattering devastation of loss both personally and professionally. Abby has helped women process and heal from their traumatic births and has received her own counseling services to process and heal from her own traumatic birth and fertility journey.

To Abby, counseling is the beautiful process of becoming your best self through the therapeutic relationship. Abby’s goal is to stand beside you as your own unique counseling journey unfolds. Abby will empower you along the way with evidence-based interventions in a warm, empathic, respectful, non-judgmental, and open-minded environment.

Therapeutic Style

Abby’s therapeutic modalities include person-centered counseling, feminist therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and a strengths-based approach. Abby utilizes treatment approaches that are uniquely tailored to each client. Her approach to counseling is client-centered, trauma-informed, and multiculturally aware. Abby also brings some pearls of wisdom from her work as a Registered 200-Hour Yoga Teacher. Be prepared for Abby to weave humor, warmth, meme culture references, and random metaphors into her dialogue to help illustrate what she means.

Experience

With over 7 years mental health experience working in hospital, school-based, and private-practice settings, Abby has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families before finding her calling in working with people through parenthood. Abby’s specialties include anxiety, depression, women’s issues, phase of life changes, LGBTQIA+ issues, trauma, relationship issues and communication issues, grief and loss, perfectionism, and family conflict.
