About Sam
Sam values connecting with each person she counsels and desires to understand and empathize with each individual’s unique experience. It is always her aim to help those she cares for to feel seen and understood as well as more confident and courageous in their own ability to overcome the challenges of life. She uses multiple evidence-based therapies and modalities depending on each person’s needs and goals. Sam is also passionate about infant development and sleep and is completing training in infant mental health as well as baby wellness and sleep. Along with her passion and training, Sam is a mother herself and understands the challenges that can be faced with adjusting to becoming a parent.
Therapeutic Style
Sam’s therapeutic style is person-centered, collaborative, and holistic in nature as she values each individual’s uniqueness and the importance of addressing the whole person. Sam genuinely enjoys and appreciates caring for others and desires to meet people wherever they are in their journey. It is her goal to truly connect with those she meets with, to help each person feel seen and heard, and to offer support and encouragement in the midst of life’s hardship.
Sam’s aim throughout the counseling process is to help others grow in self-understanding, strengthen self-confidence and efficacy, learn practical skills to help overcome life’s challenges, and develop a lifestyle that promotes holistic health and healing. Sam draws from several different therapeutic modalities, including CBT, but realizes that each person is different and requires a customized approach tailored to meet their needs by considering all factors of one’s experience.
Experience
Sam has over 5 years of experience working with children and adults in both community mental health and private practice settings. She has worked with a wide range of presenting concerns and struggles, including substance use, trauma, adjustment, anxiety and depression, and relationships. Sam has completed perinatal mental health trainings through Postpartum Support International and has worked with pregnant and postpartum mothers as well as fathers adjusting to parenthood. Sam is excited to continue her education as she works to become a baby-led sleep and wellbeing specialist and infant mental health specialist.
