About Anne

Anne is one of our therapists at River Root. She has a special interest in working with mothers who have experienced birth trauma, as well as pregnancy losses such as miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies. She believes her clients are experts in their own lives, and she strives to meet them where they are at. The healing journey can feel messy at times, but the growth it can bring is incredibly empowering. Anne is a mother herself and can understand that life can feel overwhelming at times. She is ready to walk alongside each of her clients and assist them along their journeys.

Therapeutic Style

Her therapeutic style is eclectic and collaborative. She believes in finding the unique treatment modalities that work for each individual. Anne utilizes a holistic approach when working with clients. She uses techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy and solution focused therapy and is trained in EMDR and ERP. In addition, she utilizes inner child interventions, as well as body-based interventions. She is frequently reading, and it is not uncommon for her clients to hear, “So, I was reading yesterday and learned that…”. She also enjoys using humor, and topical media such as the latest Disney movie she watched with her daughter to help illustrate what she means.

Experience

Anne has been a licensed social worker for over 6 years. She has experience as a school-based therapist, as well as a community mental health diagnostic assessor. She has been working with women who have experienced birth trauma, miscarriages, and postpartum and depression/anxiety for over a year.
