About Danielle

Danielle is one of our maternal mental health therapists and the founder of River Root Counseling. Her therapeutic style is individual, evidence-based, and unique to best serve each individual client. Danielle will work with you, at your pace, cheering you on and empowering you as you accomplish your therapeutic goals. Danielle values the therapeutic relationship and works to make each session beneficial and helpful for her clients. Danielle is a mother herself, and understands the roller coaster that parenting and motherhood can sometimes feel like.

Therapeutic Style

Danielle’s therapeutic style is collaborative and solution-focused. Her goal is to work with you, at your pace, starting exactly where you are in your healing process. She utilizes a variety of therapeutic methods and techniques, including EMDR, often combining modalities to best meet the needs of each client. She understands that every client and situation is different, and that there are many factors that may be contributing to your individual circumstances. Danielle understands the value of your time, and wants clients to get the most out of their therapy experiences. Therapy with Danielle does not stop when you finish your session; you will have the greatest benefit when you incorporate the things you learn into your everyday life.

As your therapist, Danielle will walk alongside you each step of the way, supporting you, rooting for you, and celebrating each and every win you have. Starting out, therapy can sometimes feel weird, uncomfortable, and vulnerable. With that being said, Danielle tries hard to make sessions as comfortable as possible. She is a big proponent of the “come as you are” mentality, whether that be in your sweatpants, with tears on your face, or cracking jokes together.

Experience

Danielle has over five years of clinical experience working with both trauma and perinatal mental health. She has specialized maternal mental health training through the Seleni Institute, a nationally-recognized organization for maternal mental health related topics. Danielle has continued her education through Postpartum Support International and holds a PMH-C (perinatal mental health certification). Danielle has held roles in hospitals, community counseling centers, victim services organizations, and schools. Alongside her professional expertise, she is a mother and a wife herself, and she understands the diverse needs, difficulties, joys, and struggles of motherhood.

Danielle is knowledgeable on both the physical and psychological aspects of trauma. She also has extensive training in trauma, victimizations, and related topics. She is incredibly familiar with how the brain and body process and store trauma, and often empowers clients with this knowledge during sessions. She is familiar with the diagnosis and treatment process of both trauma and perinatal related concerns.

Danielle is confident that her personal and professional expertise can be of service to you, whether you are a first time parent, a seasoned a parent, or have experienced a traumatic event(s).
