About Danielle

Danielle is the founder of River Root Counseling and one of our maternal mental health and couples therapists. Her therapeutic style is individual, evidence-based, and deeply relational, tailored to meet each client exactly where they are. Danielle works alongside you, at your pace, cheering you on and empowering you as you move toward your goals. She values the therapeutic relationship as a space of safety, honesty, and growth, and she strives to make each session feel meaningful and supportive.

As both a wife and a mother, Danielle understands firsthand the many seasons of partnership and parenthood: the joy, the challenges, and the evolving connection that comes with time. With nearly a decade of marriage, she brings a grounded, compassionate understanding of what it means to build and maintain emotional closeness over time.

Therapeutic Style

Danielle’s approach is collaborative, compassionate, and practical. She utilizes Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) when working with couples, helping partners get to the root of their conflicts, understand the emotional patterns that keep them disconnected, and rediscover the love and connection that brought them together.

When working with individuals, Danielle draws from a blend of evidence-based and integrative methods—including EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (ICBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). She takes an eclectic approach, tailoring each session to fit the unique needs, goals, and pace of every client.

In her work with perinatal clients, Danielle helps individuals find new ways to cope with the demands of parenthood and create sustainable, healthy daily routines. At the same time, she supports clients in doing the deeper work, understanding the “why” behind painful patterns and fostering self-compassion and resilience.

Danielle recognizes that therapy can sometimes feel vulnerable or even a little uncomfortable at first. She embraces a “come as you are” mentality, whether that means showing up in sweatpants, with tears, or sharing a laugh. Her goal is to make therapy a space that feels safe, authentic, and restorative.

As your therapist, Danielle will walk alongside you each step of the way, supporting you, rooting for you, and celebrating each and every win you have. Starting out, therapy can sometimes feel weird, uncomfortable, and vulnerable. With that being said, Danielle tries hard to make sessions as comfortable as possible. She is a big proponent of the “come as you are” mentality, whether that be in your sweatpants, with tears on your face, or cracking jokes together.

Experience

Danielle has 9 years of clinical experience specializing in trauma, perinatal mental health, and relationship counseling. She has specialized training in maternal mental health through the Seleni Institute and Postpartum Support International, holding a Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C). Danielle is also trained in EMDR and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT).

Her professional background includes work in hospitals, community counseling centers, victim services organizations, and schools. As both a clinician, wife, and mother, she understands firsthand the emotional landscape of parenthood and the evolving dynamics within relationships and families.

Danielle is well-versed in how the brain and body process and store trauma and often empowers her clients by helping them understand these processes. Whether you’re a first-time parent, a seasoned caregiver, or a couple seeking to rebuild your connection, Danielle brings warmth, insight, and evidence-based care to help you move forward.
